Extra Curricular Activites
The difference between a day and boarding school primarily lies in the extra- and co-curricular activities. Students at RiverDale are involved in a wide variety of activities like inter-house and inter-school debates and elocution for which students compete against the leading Pune schools. Students are actively involved every Saturday morning, as part of their non-formal education, in Saturday Clubs, where they are introduced to different activities. Students are to change their clubs every term for a wider range of hands-on experiences.
Soon to start is a Robotics Laboratory at RiverDale which will challenge students and help them to create functional robots of different shapes, sizes and abilities.
Students are sent in age-appropriate groups for periodic camping and trekking trips around the neighbouring mountains of the school. There are trained staff to ensure safety and participation of all students in cooking their own meals, pitching their own tents and living the life of a rock-trotter!
The Dorm Night is a talent show where students practice and perform without the assistance of any teacher or professional. Students come up with an array of performances that are entertaining and invoke a respect for the individuals who dare to go on stage and confidently put up unforgettable shows.
Apart from several other activites, students actively participate in the school’s Annual Day, Teacher’s Day and other scheduled programmes that are planned in the calendar year.
All these activities are aimed at improving the students self-confidence and to prepare them to go on the stage in school and in life. The fine-tuning of a child’s talent is done via these activities which lend a lot of excitement, fun and contribute to the holistic learning at RiverDale.
HOUSES
As in all schools, RiverDale follows the house point system which is updated every week for all students to note. Points are awarded for tournament winners and for participation in school extra-curricular and sports activities. The winning house is declared on the Annual Sports Day based on all the participation and point-tally of previous events.
