ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

The Elementary School (grades 2 to 6) is a period during which appropriate teaching and learning methodologies seek to foster a love for learning in the school’s younger students. The approach to education is participative and enquiry-based, and involves a great deal of activity-based learning that focuses on helping children assimilate key concepts. Also, being at such an impressionable age, the school makes sure to expose its students to a strong program of moral and value education. In addition to this, students are encouraged to actively participate in sports, engage in music and art classes, make liberal use of the library, and participate in extra-curricular activities.

MIDDLE SCHOOL

The school’s Middle School section comprises of grades 7 and 8. These are crucial years for students as they make the necessary transition from a teaching/learning environment suited to Elementary School to a more structured and demanding curricular programme of High School. The work of teachers at this level is dedicated to providing an early introduction to the ICSE curriculum to students of Middle School and building a solid foundation for their further learning. Students at this stage are also trained in the pattern of assessments and writing their answers according to the demands of the Board examinations, which they will be facing in a few years’ time.

HIGH SCHOOL

At this level (grades 9 and 10), students are offered the choice of two academic streams: Science and Commerce. They are then put through a strict regimen that includes routine daily class periods, extra classes, and individual self-study sessions. Regular assessments based on portions covered, and past question papers help accustom students with the Board’s examination patterns. Although a major portion of the time of these students is spent in refining and strengthening their academic progress, they do engage in their share of leisure, sports, games, and extra-curricular activities, which help to keep them refreshed, stress free and focused.

JUNIOR COLLEGE

Students of the RiverDale junior college, comprising of grades 11 and 12 ISC, are put through a strong programme that seeks to help them achieve increasingly higher levels of academic excellence. All students are assisted in becoming aware of the importance of the Board examinations as the defining basis for a productive and successful career in the future. Students of Junior College can choose from two major educational streams: Science and Commerce. In working with the school’s older students, our unique approach at RiverDale has been to help them look ahead and prepare for university and this has made RIS an excellent choice for junior college.

AWARDING MERITORIOUS STUDENTS

The school Principal presents before the entire school an analysis of students’ performance after every major test or examination. Students who have achieved high grades in the assessment are recognised and rewarded. Special recognition is given to students who improve on their own past performance, thus motivating them to do better in their studies. Other students who are routinely recognised and rewarded are those who have been exemplary in their conduct and application at school: in the dorms, during meals in the dining hall and playground during games and sports.

REMEDIAL SUPPORT CLASS

A unique feature of the pedagogy adopted at Riverdale is personalized remedial and tutorial classes for students to constantly improve their performance in academic studies. These include not only weaker students but also high achievers. The performance of students in academics is routinely analyzed through assessments for identifying those who can benefit from additional help in order to further improve their grades and marks. These students are then included in remedial and tutorial classes that are held after regular school hours.

work, relentless attention to details and insistence on the highest standards of
quality and performance.” JRD Tata

Young minds are capable of infinite possibilities which when nurtured and
channelized in the correct path leads to excellence of the individual and to the
society.

My team and I focus on creating a perfect blend of academics and personal
experiences between students and nature, fostering sensitivity to the environment.
We believe every individual has latent talents which need to be discovered and
nurtured. Our challenge is not only to develop this, but also prepare them as
socially empathetic, responsible and compassionate adults.

Our founder has continued to serve as a guiding light and helped us to focus on
self-esteem, acquiring life skills and sustainable development. This forms the
nucleus of educational system at RIS.

Parents have been our pillars of support and strength. They have constantly stood
with us and motivated us to strive for excellence at all times.

The students, the focal center of all activities at RiverDale, and the very reason for
its existence, have also played their unique role by aligning themselves with the school’s vision and objectives through appropriate conduct and application. A
profound sense of responsibility and ownership towards their own learning, an
enhanced ability to resist peer pressure and take morally sound decisions, and a
predisposition towards cooperation and mutual support in the fields of academics,
extra-curricular activities and sports are only a few attributes that characterize our
students at RiverDale.

The way students respond to the tireless and caring efforts of their teachers and
other staff fills us with the confidence that at RiverDale we are moving in the right
direction. It gives us the motivation to redouble our efforts to serve the best
interests of our students. It also fills us with a sense of pride that RiverDale, in its
own small way, continues to enrich society by providing a steady stream of
morally, intellectually, socially, emotionally and physically strong citizens. It is
with such tall standards to fall back on that we look to the future and discharge our
duties and responsibilities in the present.
