Perched atop a mountain with magnificent view of the valley with over 50 acres of lush green campus, we take pride in being one of the few purely boarding schools in Maharashtra with every conceivable amenity on campus. As the famous American poet and philosopher Ralph Waldo Emerson quoted “The shoemaker makes a good shoe because he makes nothing else”, RiverDale specialises in running an exclusively residential program, with no day scholars or weekly boarders.
The guiding philosophy of our institution is steeped in the secular belief of encouraging harmony amongst our community with no bias towards any one caste, community or religion. Our children benefit from a rigorous academic program combined with a disciplined lifestyle which results in their all round development. Our aim is to create world citizens
Very few people live to realise their dreams. I can proudly say that my dream is up and running with RiverDale in its seventeenth year! My vision and dream of over a decade ago have been realised through the tireless efforts of my capable team and students. Today RiverDale International stands tall in the tradition of boarding schools countrywide. It caters to every need of the modern parent who seeks an all-round development for his or her child in a boarding school environment, which I believe is the best option for children to learn and act independently and take responsibility for their actions at a relatively young age.
The service we provide is a combination of academic education and residential accommodation. While this comes with its many challenges, the benefits far outweigh the former. Children learn to be self-reliant and independent as they get used to the idea of living away from home, while simultaneously learning the value of their family.
A change in their lifestyle can be noticed as discipline becomes a habit.
Fewer number of students in each class as compared to day schools ensure that teachers are more involved in your child’s academic, emotional and physical development.
Mandatory extra-curricular activities help in developing non-academic skills useful in the outside world.
Combined with 24/7 pastoral supervision, residential life provides for a safe and secure environment conducive to holistic development.
But above all, in my 17 years as the founder of a residential school, I have noticed that children develop lifelong relationships with their peers and teachers. This helps them to understand the value of relationships at a tender age, which, in turn, helps them to value relationships with their parents and families more.
While the end result may seem enticing, we must not lose sight of the fact that this is a process and that it takes time.
My personal message to first time parents seeking to enrol their child in a residential school would be
The process of settling into a new environment can pose a challenge to children. Petty complaints are not uncommon initially.
Parents should not lose heart and give in to unreasonable demands of children who may seek to return home by any means possible during the first few months. A little “tough love” will go a long way in teaching your child to be independent.
Your child will be meeting children from different cultures, backgrounds and even nationalities. It’s important to remember that forging friendships may take time. But I assure you, once formed, they last a lifetime.
Parents are urged to have faith in the process and to strictly abide by the school rules, which have been adapted over time to ensure best practices that enable children to become an integral part of our community.
After all, I have successfully guided over 1800 students and am privy to every trick in the book.

Young minds are capable of infinite possibilities which when nurtured and channelized in the correct path leads to excellence of the individual and to the society.
In the words of the great Dalai Lama “When educating the minds of our youth we must not forget to educate their hearts.”
My team and I focus on creating a perfect blend of academics and personal experiences between students and nature, fostering sensitivity to the environment. We believe every individual has latent talents which need to be discovered and nurtured. Our challenge is not only to develop this, but also prepare them as socially empathetic, responsible and compassionate adults.
Our founder has continued to serve as a guiding light and helped us to focus on self-esteem, acquiring life skills and sustainable development. This forms the nucleus of educational system at RIS.
Parents have been our pillars of support and strength. They have constantly stood with us and motivated us to strive for excellence at all times.
The students, the focal center of all activities at RiverDale, and the very reason for its existence, have also played their unique role by aligning themselves with the school’s vision and objectives through appropriate conduct and application. A profound sense of responsibility and ownership towards their own learning, an enhanced ability to resist peer pressure and take morally sound decisions, and a predisposition towards cooperation and mutual support in the fields of academics, extra-curricular activities and sports are only a few attributes that characterize our students at RiverDale.
The way students respond to the tireless and caring efforts of their teachers and other staff fills us with the confidence that at RiverDale we are moving in the right direction. It gives us the motivation to redouble our efforts to serve the best interests of our students. It also fills us with a sense of pride that RiverDale, in its own small way, continues to enrich society by providing a steady stream of morally, intellectually, socially, emotionally and physically strong citizens. It is with such tall standards to fall back on that we look to the future and discharge our duties and responsibilities in the present.
Following a time tested tradition; meritorious and more capable students are carefully chosen from Grades 12 and 10 each year and appointed to the Board of Prefects. Our student-leaders are the pride and strength of RIS, who, through the pursuit of excellence in every field, provide valuable support to the management and staff in the proper running of the school.
Serving as an intermediary between the staff and students, the Board of Prefects fulfill a number of tasks including supervision of students, and assisting the staff in the discharge of specific duties.
These functions afford the Prefects and otherstudent-leaders with the opportunity of enhancing their own leadership qualities.
